The truth about pool equipment

Nobody sees the equipment, until it fails.

You see clear water and a quiet backyard. What you don't see is a pump drawing full power every hour it runs, a filter past its service life, and a heater that has been short-cycling for a season.

Cloudy water
that won't clear

Usually an undersized, clogged or failing filter. Not a chemistry problem you can pour your way out of.

A pump that costs
more every month

An old single-speed pump runs at full draw whenever it runs. It is often the largest electrical load on the property.

The failure you
didn't see coming

Equipment fails on the hottest weekend of the year. The wear is visible long before that, if someone is looking.

We'd rather tell you what not to buy.

Two prices, one honest answer.

When repair is the answer

We repair it, and we tell you how long that realistically buys you.

When replacement is the answer

We say so in writing, with the reason, before you spend anything on a repair that won't hold.

We service 650+ pools every week. We see this equipment again next Tuesday — which is exactly why we can't afford to sell you the wrong thing.

What we install and service.

We install Jandy, Gulfstream, and many other brands based on what you need — and we service what you already have, whatever brand it is.

  • Sizing is where most pumps go wrong — an oversized pump is a real and common mistake that costs you every month and wears plumbing faster. Bigger is not better.
  • A variable speed pump runs slower for longer. Moving the same water at lower speed takes far less power, so the same turnover costs a fraction as much.
  • A failing pump usually announces itself: grinding or screeching bearings, humming without starting, air in the pump basket, or tripping the breaker.
  • On site we check the age and condition, the plumbing it feeds, how it is scheduled, and whether the size actually matches your pool.
  • Cartridge filters suit most residential pools — simple, no backwashing. DE gives the finest filtration but needs more upkeep. Sand is rugged but filters the coarsest.
  • Past the point of deep-cleaning: cracked or flattened pleats, pressure that climbs back within days of a clean, or water that stays dull no matter the chemistry.
  • In Florida, filters work year-round — no off-season. Cartridges need cleaning several times a year and honest inspection each time; a deep clean is often all it takes.
  • A salt system makes its own chlorine from salt in the water. Your pool is still chlorinated — it just generates the chlorine on site instead of you buying and adding it.
  • Week to week, nothing changes for you: salt levels are checked and managed as part of the weekly visit by the same team that services your pool.
  • The salt cell is a wear item — it has a finite lifespan and will eventually need replacement. We tell you where yours stands rather than waiting for it to fail.
  • Honest downside: salt can accelerate wear on natural stone and sandstone decking. If that's what surrounds your pool, we'll tell you before you buy, not after.

  • Gas heats fast and suits occasional use — heat the pool for the weekend, then let it rest. A heat pump heats slowly but holds temperature all season for far less per degree.
  • Undersized, a heater runs constantly and never quite gets there. Oversized, you paid for capacity you never use. Sizing comes from your pool and how you actually swim.
  • The right answer depends on your usage pattern, not the biggest unit on the truck — which is why our team walks you through the reasoning behind the recommendation.
  • The real benefit isn't the app — it's that the pump runs on the right schedule every day without anyone having to remember.
  • Heater, lights and water features on schedules you set once, adjusted from your phone when plans change.
  • Automation also protects the equipment: the system runs the way it was designed to, not the way the last person left the timer.
  • We check the whole pad, not just the part that failed — pump, filter, heater, sanitation and plumbing, because equipment problems rarely travel alone.
  • Diagnosis means finding the cause, not just the symptom: a pump that keeps losing prime usually has a reason upstream of the pump.
  • What comes out of it is a repair-or-replace recommendation: our team calls you and walks you through the reasoning and the price for each path. You decide from there.

"I hired Aquaprime a couple of months ago to redo my entire equipment, and they did a great job! They perfectly installed my automation system, salt system, pump 2.7Hp, filter and heater! This is what a proper install looks like.

Pipes cut square, valves where a technician can actually reach them, and a pad laid out so the next person who works on it can see what they're doing. It is the part nobody photographs and the part that decides how long the equipment lasts.
